Shots....Ouch!

On Tuesday Jax had his 6 month check-up and passed with flying colors! :) He's in the 25-30% range for his weight, height, and head size. His pediatrician said he's well proportioned. Obviously, you can tell he's perfect just by looking at him! Unfortunately he also had to get his immunization shots. :( No fun. It was so sad. He was laying there just a smilin' and a talkin' and all of a sudden the nurse struck him with a needle to each leg. Completely out of the blue! At least it was for him. His mood suddenly changed from smiling to crying. Poor little boy. Needles hurt! But mom and dad were both there to comfort him and he stopped crying after a few minutes. He's my tough little man.

He fell asleep in the car by the time we got home. He was sound asleep holding onto the car seat bar. He had a slight fever off and on that night and the next day and was a bit fussier and clingier than usual. But today he was his normal happy self!

Today we went to Wal-Mart to pick up some pictures and get a few things for him and he was starting to get fussy while I was checking out. He was so ready to get out of his car seat, plus it was naptime for him. I gave him his pacifier and he was cool...and he knew it. :)

Just chillaxin'

Nooooo....not yet!

Today is a momentous occasion. But not in a good way. You see I had a huge baby shower. Huge. Who's got great friends and family? This girl does! A lot of my peeps showed up. I'm pretty sure it was the event of the year, some might even say of the century. And I would agree! With so many there, you can imagine all the diapers I got. I got TONS! I still have some newborns and size 1's that Jax has grown out of. He's in size 2's and I (gasp) am down to the last few diapers in the last size 2 diaper package. I have a few size 3 packages, but they're still too big for him. The last few days I've kept checking and re-checking to see if perhaps I've missed a package or two of the size 2's, and alas, I had not. So I actually had to buy my FIRST diapers for my little man. Oh the horror! So here is the start of buying many, many, many, many more diapers in the future. The joys of parenthood!
These are THE diapers.

He'll probably move to 3's here shortly, but I'm in need of 2's now. I just can't get over that I actually had to buy diapers today. :)

Feeding Time!

Jax loves eating rice cereal! He often tries to devour it. Before I even have the spoon to his mouth he comes at it and makes a growling noise. It's the cutest thing. We've also learned to use more than one spoon because he likes to take the spoon from me and feed himself, plus more than one spoon has landed on the floor. He's pretty good at getting it in his mouth....but sometimes he gets his eye instead. And when he's helping mom direct the spoon, we often get his nose.

Mom, seriously, I got this. I don't need your help.

This is the funniest face! Love it!

 Mom, give it to me.

How many times do I have to tell you, mom?! I got this!

Mother's Day

Yesterday, as we all know, was Mother's Day. My very first Mother's Day as a mom. Oh how I loved it!
The last several years I have struggled and struggled with this day. It was a pain-filled day for me. The last couple I skipped church because I couldn't bear to hear talks about mothers and how amazing and blessed they are. Which, yes, is true; but it certainly hurt to hear it. Always making me wonder why I wasn't being blessed. Of course I was blessed in other areas, and greatly so, but it hurt that I wasn't blessed with the thing I wanted most...children.
But all of that has changed now. I have the most beautiful little boy. I am so grateful he joined our family. I truly believe he was meant to be ours.
Sunday morning, before I even got out of bed, Shalum made me believe he forgot to get me something for Mother's Day. Normally this wouldn't bother me so much, but after waiting 8 years to be a mom, I was expecting something for my first Mother's Day...a simple card would have sufficed. So I was a little hurt and a little bummed, and then Shalum said he heard little man and went to go get him. I hadn't heard him so I figured Shalum was just making an excuse to hide from me. I got up as well and as I walked out of our room, Shalum was coming out with Jared. I asked Shalum if he woke Jared up. He replied that he hadn't. And I said, 'really, cause he looks like he just woke up.' I went to the bathroom and when I came out, there was Shalum and Jared standing there with a gift bag on Jared's arm. Dang that Shalum! He loves fooling me and of course I'm extremely gullible, so he does it ALL the time. They had gotten me a really nice charm bracelet with four charms...a bride and groom, november birthstone (mine and Jared's birthstone), a baby shoe, and a monkey. Shalum wanted a bear because he calls me mama bear, but they didn't have one so he chose the monkey. Which I actually really like the monkey...so it's all good.

And that was my very first Mother's Day!.....as a mom, I mean.
Shalum, Jared, and I went to Utah over the weekend because Shalum had a Primerica conference Saturday. We had a fun time in Utah! I got a jogging stroller and some perty shoes! Plus we got to see Shalum's brother Shawdo! His friend, Caulon, also joined us for the day. It was the first time Shawdo had seen Jared. And of course I got some pictures of them together! It's been quite a while since we've seen him. He had moved up to Montana a while ago and had recently moved back to Utah, so we were excited to see him again!
Here we all were at Shalum's conference. Shalum got recognized for making so many sales. He went on stage and got a gift. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of it :( because I had taken Jared out to change his diaper. I got back in time to see him walking across the stage but not in time to get my camera out.

I love this picture of Uncle Shawdo and Jax!

Last week we had some family portraits taken by the very talented and amazing Kristy
I love my little family!

I just love my little frogman!

Kangarooing

When Jared was in the NICU I loved spending my time with him. I especially loved the times I got to kangaroo with him!
